I write history. My books include the bestselling A Line In The Sand, and Lords of the Desert. I am currently writing The Arena – a history of three thousand years of conflict in the Middle East, for Headline.
I read modern history at Oxford. Since then I have worked in politics, at the Daily Telegraph, in the City, at the British Embassy in Paris, and once ran my own research business. I now write full-time. I live in south London with my wife and our two children.
